摩訶般若波羅蜜多心經 英解

 

摩訶般若波羅蜜多心經: 二百六十字

觀自在菩薩 行深般若波羅密多時 照見五蘊皆空 度一切苦厄

舍利子 色不異空 空不異色 色卽是空 空卽是色 受想行識 亦復如是

舍利子 是諸法空相 不生不滅 不垢不淨 不增不減

是故 空中無色 無受想行識

無眼耳鼻舌身意 無色聲香味觸法 無眼界 乃至 無意識界

無無明 亦無無明盡 乃至 無老死 亦無老死盡

無苦集滅道 無智 亦無得 以無所得故

菩提薩陀 依般若波羅密多 故心無罣碍 無罣碍故 無有恐怖 遠離顚倒夢想 究竟涅槃

三世諸佛依般若波羅密多 故得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提

故知般若波羅密多 是大神呪 是大明呪 是無上呪 是無等等呪

能除一切苦 眞實不虛 故說般若波羅密多呪 卽說呪曰

揭諦揭諦 波羅揭諦 波羅僧揭諦 菩提 娑婆訶


/prajnaparamita-h daya sutra/, The heart sutra for perfection of the great wisdom inherent:

/avalokitesvaro/, the /bodhisattvo/ of compassion, was deep through the Perfection of Wisdom, saw clearly that the five aggregates of human existence are empty, and so released himself from suffering. "Sariputra! Form is nothing more than emptiness, emptiness is nothing more than Form, Form is exactly emptiness, and emptiness is exactly Form. The other four aggregates of human existence -- Feeling, Thought, Will, and Consciousness [Perception, Name, Conception, and Knowledge] -- are also nothing more than emptiness." 

"Sariputra! All things are empty: nothing is born, nothing dies, nothing is stained, nothing is pure, nothing increases and nothing decreases. So, in emptiness, there is no Form, no Feeling, no Thought, no Will, no Consciousness. There are no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind. There is no seeing, no hearing, no smelling, no tasting, no touching, no imagining. No plane of sight, no plane of thought. There is no ignorance, and no end to ignorance. There is no oldness and death, and no end to oldness and death. There is no suffering, no cause of suffering, no end to suffering, no path to suffering. There is no attainment of wisdom as well as no wisdom to attain." ["Sariputra! All things have the character of emptiness: they have no beginning and no end, they are faultless and not faultless, they are not imperfect and not perfect; therefore, Sariputra! in this emptiness, there is no Form, no Perception, no Name, no Conception, no Knowledge; no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind; no form, sound, smell, taste, touch, objects. There are no eyes, till you come to where there is no mind. What are left out here are the eighteen aggregates, that is to say, eyes, form, vision; ears, sound, hearing; nose, odor, smelling; tongue, flavor, tasting; body, touch, feeling; mind, objects, thought. There is no knowledge, no ignorance, no destruction of knowledge, no destruction of ignorance, till we come to where there is no decay and death, no destruction of decay and death; there are not the four truths, namely, suffering, origin of suffering, stoppage of suffering, and the path to suffering; there is no wisdom, no obtaining (of /nirva a/)."]

"The /bodhisattvo/s, there being no attainment, rely on the Perfection of Wisdom, their hearts without delusions; they have no reason for delusion, no fear within, abandoning their confused thoughts, finally experiencing /nirva a/. The Buddhas, past, present, and future, rely on the Perfection of Wisdom, and live in full enlightenment." ["A man who has approached the /prajnaparamita/ of the /bodhisattvo/s dwells enveloped in consciousness; but when the envelopment of consciousness has been annihilated, then he becomes free of all fear beyond the race of change, enjoying final /nirva a/. All buddhas of the past, present, and future, after approaching the /prajnaparamita/, have awoken to the highest perfect knowledge."]

"Therefore you ought to know the /prajnaparamita/ as the spell of deity, the spell of wisdom, the highest spell, and the peerless spell; which appeases all suffering. Being true, and not in vain, the /prajnaparamita/ spell, the Spell thus says: /gate gate paragate parasa gate bodhi svaha/[1][2]"
