주파키스탄 대사관 송종환 대사가 7월 25일 대사관에서 PTV와 인터뷰를 진행하였습니다. 아래에 인터뷰 전문과 사진을 게시합니다.
Q1. Message regarding Eid day from the people of Korea to the people of Pakistan.
Koreans wish their Pakistani friends a joyful and blessed Eid. Eid is also celebrated by Muslim people residing in Korea, which include thousands of Pakistanis.
This July is the first anniversary of my ambassadorship in Pakistan. I would like to thank all Pakistanis for your hospitality and wish you all a happy Eid.
Q2. Message regarding the Independence Day from the people of Korea to the people of Pakistan.
Pakistan and Korea became newly born countries after the World War II.
Pakistan became independent on 14th August 1947 while Korea gained independence on 15th August 1948.
Since then, our cooperative relations have been steadily increasing. The Government of the Republic of Korea always has the best wishes for Pakistan, and we wish to see Pakistan prosper in peace.
Q3. Pak Korea economic relations
In 2013 the bilateral trade between Korea and Pakistan was $1.34 billion. Last year the trade volume between Korea and the world was over $1 trillion. Compared to this amount, Pakistan–Korea trade volume is very small. I will try my best to increase this as much as possible.
For this, there are many things Korean and Pakistani businessmen should do.
Korean Prime Minister visited Pakistan April 13-16 this year. During his visit to Pakistan a number of MOU were signed between trade and commercial bodies of Korea and Pakistan.
As follow-up measure, MOU between the KDI(Korea Development Institute) and the PIDE(Pakistan Institute of Development Economics) is being discussed now.
Also I had a three-day visit to Lahore, Sialkot and Faisalabad to meet with each city’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry last month. I saw Pakistan’s vast economic potential and its entrepreneur’s aspiration to interact further with Korea.
Q4. Is there any investment coming from Korea to Pakistan in terms of infrastructure, auto-mobiles, agriculture?
Korea is famous for the M2 Islamabad-Lahore motorway built by a Korean company, Daewoo and that motorway changed Pakistan’s public transportation system.
Now Korean companies are increasingly investing in the fields of chemical, confectionary, steel, shipyard, etc. in Pakistan. Especially Korea is doing its best to assist Pakistan in overcoming its power crisis.
1. New Bong 84 megawatt hydro power plant was built by Sambu in 2013,
2. Patrind 147 megawatt hydro power plant by K-water and Daewoo construction company is scheduled to be completed by the end of January 2017,
3. Gulpur 100 megawatt hydro power plant construction is likely to start by end of this year,
Additionally, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) the aid implementing agency of the Korean government is assisting Pakistan with over $200 million of Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects in the fields of health & sanitation, education, energy & infrastructure.
